Unity Please
A while back I visited a thrift store and came across a woman who was Muslim, and a guy who said he was Christian but is now considering becoming Muslim.
Rather than coming at the lady with debates and harsh words, I simply asked questions about her religion and to no surprise, she said very similar things that other Muslim women said. And when I spoke to the man considering converting to Islam, the one thing that deterred him most was the misalignment with people who say they are Christian but do not follow His Word.
Honestly, I became more irritated with “Christians” than people who follow false Gods. Why is it that any other organized religion believe in false gods yet are so unified in their beliefs. And because of the unity among their followers, even though what they believe is at its core a lie from the enemy to deceive, they have become extremely organized and progressed in their agenda that opposes Jesus.
If we call ourself Christians, that means we follow Jesus Christ. Period. The Bible says Jesus Christ is the Word of God. If you claim to follow Jesus and don’t believe in His Word, you are a liar. As Christians, the Word of God is very clear and is complete Truth and is not up for debate.
It’s unfortunate that many people have chosen to follow their opinion, creating deep division among the church (John 10:19). Now we have what we call denominations, but honestly there is only one church, JESUS. You either follow the Word or you don’t.
We should all agree that Jesus is the Son of God, and a part of the triune God (Hebrew 1). We should agree that Jesus died and resurrected to pay the price for our sins and redeem our relationship with God (Romans 4:25). We should agree that grace is not an excuse to sin but gifted to turn us to Jesus, repent (Romans 2:4). We should agree that pornography, masturbation, fornication, homosexuality, adultery, lying, witchcraft, idolatry, and murder is sin (Ephesians 4:31, Galatians 5:19-21, Revelation 21:8). And that those who make a practice of sin will not inherit the Kingdom of God but live eternally in Hell (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). We should agree that gossip and cussing is not of God (Ephesians 4:29 & Ephesians 4:31). We should agree that abortion is murder and thus sin (Deuteronomy 12: 31) & Leviticus 18:21). We should agree that leaders do not crave alcohol (Proverbs 31:4).
That’s not anyone’s opinion, that’s the Word of God. And if that offends you, you should ask yourself if you really believe in God. Do you really follow God? Because that is the standard that we are held to as Christians. No one is perfect, nonetheless, with Christ all things are possible. The Spirit of Jesus is our helper and as we spend more time with Him, He makes us new. We received power to live a life that pleases Him when chose to believe.
If that’s not something you are willing to do, that’s your choice, but do not call yourself Christian. You cannot live however you want say whatever you want and decide which parts of the Bible are true and think you are going to spend eternity with Jesus, let alone enjoy heaven. Christians carry their cross, they deny their flesh, and most of all, they love. And Jesus is our standard of love. And last time I checked, Jesus didn’t compromise, he sacrificed. So if we are to follow Him to the cross, it’s going to take sacrifice and surrendering to His Word.
