Faith for Future
As I continue to walk with the Holy Spirit, I am realizing that everything spoken and prophesied may not be next immediately. Sometimes, God speaks instructions for your now and then there are times when what the Spirit is saying is for a future time. Nonetheless, we should receive what He is saying because every word of God proves true (Proverbs 30:5).
I was reading Acts and in the 1st chapter, verse 16, it mentions how the Holy Spirit was speaking through King David about Jesus and the betrayal of Jesus. It never occurred to me that the Psalms of David were prophetic words by the Spirit about Jesus. While some have known this for a while, it is worth sharing. When you really stop and think about it, God is so incredibly huge and does not live in time, He is outside of time. So when reading His word and listening to His Spriit, I pray for discernment to understand the times the Spirit is referring to and having faith to believe His word even if it doesn’t come to pass immediately or is a word for beyond my lifetime.
After all, isn't that the story of the Savior, His birth was foretold and His life’s purpose was revealed before He was born. That’s the story of John the Baptist, already being declared a voice in the wilderness before his birth. That is the story of Noah, having faith for the future flood. That is the story of Sarah and Abraham receiving a word about a son that they would not conceive immediately, but in the future. I am convinced that the prophetic voice by the Spirit is given to guide us in our prayers because prophecy is the will of God, for it is coming directly from His Spirit.
